Fireside chat between Ijeoma Genevieve Mbamalu and Ron Rigores, an Adjunct Professor from Cornell University’s Institute for Public Affairs.  Mr. Rigores is also an experienced public and private sector practitioner consulting in the areas of strategy, business transformation, portfolio, program and project management, governance, risk management and information technology.  The fireside chat will include discussion about the spring semester course Mr. Rigores will be teaching entitled, Digital Cities: “A platform for tri-sector innovation” exploring the challenges and opportunities created by the intersection of public companies, nonprofits and government.  This course will explore ways in which information and information technology have become a key driver in the delivery of government services.

BIO – Ijeoma Genevieve Mbamalu:

 

 

Ijeoma Genevieve Mbamalu is the Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Technology for the Department of Homeless Services, a subsidiary of The Department of Social Services in the City of New York.  

Ms. Mbamalu is a capable, proven, and charismatic Technology Leader with 10 + years as a Data Science professional. She is currently a C level leader, commanding a variety of data and analytics efforts as well as technology development, design and implementation for a mission critical agency in one of the world’s largest metropolis. 

Her astonishing rise to leadership has placed her in the trenches on myriad technological advancements and innovations that directly impact government’s delivery of mission-critical services for hundreds of thousands of extremely vulnerable citizens. Ms. Mbamalu has stood shoulder to shoulder with some of the nation’s most innovative minds and conceptualized groundbreaking digital solutions, and brought them to fruition. 

Her work related to technology is tangible and provides a measured track record. Her story provides the realization of the principles and the perspective that we all aspire to affirm in our world today. A first generation American citizen and a woman of African heritage, who has worked her way up from an entry level data scientist to a design and analytics technology executive at the helm of multi-million dollar office, with hundreds of technologists for a multi-billion dollar agency in a world renowned urban hub. 

BIO – Ron Rigores:

Ron Rigores is an Adjunct Professor at Cornell University’s Institute for Public Affairs and is an experienced public and private sector practitioner consulting in the areas of strategy, business transformation, portfolio, program and project management, governance, risk management and information technology. 

Ron is a sought-after speaker who uses his 20+ years’ experience in IT and strategic planning to successfully mastermind change and growth strategies in small and medium companies as well as large multinationals seeking sustainable expansion within the public and private sector.   

Ron has experience implementing enterprise-wide transformation initiatives and develop turn-key go-to-market strategies.  He is an effective visionary in developing and launching products that create new revenue streams and deepen market share.

Driven by his passion to solve business challenges, Ron’s career is defined by his ability to achieve business efficiency and increase revenue.

Ron uses his acumen in areas of strategic planning and big data to accurately identify new business channels and develop go-to-market strategies. At LexisNexis he developed four new products which contributed to a 97% increase in new revenue growth; and at New York City Housing Authority he guided tactical planning and training to implement a multi-million-dollar IT project which created over a million dollars in annual savings for the Authority.
