Come volunteer with other PMI members in revitalizing east river park! Please wear comfortable clothes.

The Lower East Side Ecology Center works toward a more sustainable New York City by providing community based recycling and composting programs, local stewardship programs as well as environmental education programs. The Center is located in East River Park and has promoted community involvement since 1993. The Ecology Center’s Green Space program encourages caring for the city’s green open spaces. The Ecology Center’s composting programs help ensure that organic material are returned to the earth via the NYC Compost Project in Manhattan.

Take the F, J, or M to Essex/Delancey Street stop. When you exit the station, walk east on the south side of Delancey Street (the Williamsburg Bridge will be on your left) until you reach FDR Drive. Take the pedestrian bridge at the foot of Delancey Street to cross the highway. The Fire Boat House will be on your left, just before the big ballfield. The building is a two-story red brick building right next to the East River and there is a seal spray shower park in front.

Please keep in mind that it takes 15 minutes to walk from the subway stop to the Ecology Center.
