Starting May 2018, PMI NYC is pleased to announce the formation of our new Military Outreach team:

  • Andrea Houtkin - Military Mentor / Communications Lead
  • Marty Flank - Military Mentor

This team will focus on recruitment and the needs of veterans active in or seek to become active in Project Management.

The objective of the PMINYC Outreach Programs is to build bridges through community initiatives.  We believe that there are many opportunities to share knowledge, leverage experiences and expertise, to grow stronger and foster leadership development.  Through the four community outreach programs, Academic Outreach, Corporate Outreach, Neighborhood & Community Outreach and Service Outreach (Government and Non-Profits Public sector), we have unimaginable synergistic power and possibilities.

Examples of engagements include (but not limited to): Project Management Speed Mentoring; Junior Achievement Project Management Job Shadowing Day (using PMI Education Foundation "PM Skills for Life" curriculum); Lunch and Learn; Speaker series; Panel discussions or Career Workshops.

Community Outreach - Hope and Heroes
Ijeoma Onyebuchi

On May 21, 2017 the PMINYC Community Outreach team joined the Hope and Heroes Foundation from Columbia University for the 8th Annual Hope and Heroes Walk at Pier 84 in NYC. The annual event is an opportunity where families, friends and several volunteer organizations gather to celebrate, play, walk and raise funds for research on childhood cancer.

During the event, the PMINYC team cheered, encouraged and ensured the safety of several runners and walkers while they completed a two-mile course. The team also had the chance to meet and talk with family and friends that participated in the event. The PMINYC team will continue to engage with the several NYC communities and volunteer organization in serving the needs of children and their families.
